Four years ago, I decided to start a motorcycle tour guide business to share my love of motorcycling with other people. It has been really fun to meet new friends from all over the country, plan epic adventures for them and then guide them every step of the way. It has been rewarding to see them experience the same places that I have toured while helping them create their own memories.
This business has taken me all over the Western United States, to some of the best roads and trails for motorcycle touring. The adventures have been BIG! The sights, sounds, and experiences in the outdoors have been incredible.
The majority of my business comes directly from my social media accounts. Instagram has been a big part of this strategy. I started by building a presence and then feeding it with high-quality content that speaks DIRECTLY to my audience. My content included pictures, videos, and stories from my tours. I also include helpful information about the best tires or gear for adventure motorcycling.
I put my focus on content that will resonate with them, be helpful, and create a conversation. I have also used a hashtag strategy to drive likes and new followers. There is some secret sauce that I use as well, along with understanding how Instagram cycles work.
Absolutely. I mention tours coming up in the comments and I will post some promotional images about tours. However, 90% of my content is NOT promotional, just good content that feeds potential customers and gives them a desire to experience my motorcycle tours. They are able to get a taste from the pictures, videos, and stories that I post on Instagram.
You will see that I’ve only posted 600 times in 4+ years. Many accounts would have thousands upon thousands of pictures at this point. I focus on quality over quantity and try to be hyper thoughtful before I make a post.
